Google form

For week nine in this Tech. 4 Teachers class, we discussed Google Docs. We set up our own survey that others can both view and participate in. This form will allow students to interact within the classroom and beyond school doors. Students will have the opportunity to both see the interest of others and take part in filling out the surveys to list their interests. With Google Form, all results can be viewed by the individual who set up the form. Students can virtually study whenever they want with this being available 24/7.

Sam and Computers

Sam is a young girl who spends alot of time on the computer. From the time she wakes up in the mornings til when she goes to bed. She spends a lot of time palying World of Warcraft. This type of interaction teaches students teamwork. Texting seems to be the next best thing to ice cream. Everybody is doing it nowadays. Students are capable of achieving so much through technology.

Paula White Reflection

This week, we watched a video with Paula White and learned some methods that students may apply to give them a better understanding how to use technology. The young man William was creating his own webpage where students could visit and complete math problems. As White stated in her video, kids learn through emulating their elders. It teaches students to work together. Hannah wrote a description of the class and did it with great passion. Celine wanted to study engineering and began creating pages based on her goals. Teaching these students to engage will give them a better understanding of the subject and retain information better.

Just Like You

I am completely amazed at how closely related animals are to humans. Animals show many of the same tendencies and provide for their young just the same as us. Animals have many different characteristics which distinguish them from human beings, yet they have more in common than you think.

My survey

This week we went over how to create questions for Google Form Survey under Google Docs and post them for classmates to complete. This is a good resource for students to utilize when preparing presentations. Students have the opportunity to interact with the teacher or presenter while the presentation is going on. They can also view the results of the answers. The following is a survey I completed on Google Docs in class. This video will help to show how to set it up

adversity

Luis is a prime example of a child who is very understanding as to what needs to be done. What i mean is that in the video, he is taking on so many tasks already from having to get his brother up for school and bring him home to helping his mother with the cooking. He is giving his time to the community and trying to make a better environment. He is making a difference in the lives of others which is is a large task for a young man who is about to become the first in his family to attend college. His devotion to helping others proves that he has a natural ability to lead. It is up to the teachers to find that spark, that niche, that dream, in as many children that we possibly can. It is clear that the teachers there in Corneleus, Oregon were able to find the one that will hopefully lead Luis to a bright future.

Nafiza story

Nafiza shows that she is a child who can use technology as her means of life. She shows that she has an interest in the subject so now is the time to continue pushing her into new material to show her and give her every opportunity to succeed in life. I think this is a good example Nafiza sets, and others should follow. She has demonstrated the ability to lead and teach others which is a definite benefit.

little man

The story of Cameron was pretty cool. It was really neat to see how he was able to help teachers with some of the presentations that were given. He was able to create a small tv media to the school. Technology has definitely offered people the opportunity to expand to basically live in their own virtual world. He has demonstrated his ability to financially support his way through not only a summer job but what will soon to be your next possible CEO, movie director, or doctor. The child has every possible way to go in life, and I say let him run with it. Extremely bright child.

were not in old times anymore toto

After watching the video on wizard of apps, I was impressed to see all the tools available for people to use. I thought it was rather clever and witty to see the songs to the wizard of oz were changed to fit into the technology world. The parody was great. It is amazing to see how so many things that were once deemed out of reach or to far to grasp are now right at our fingertips. We can virtually visit any part of the world with the click of a button. Being able to use flicker or PPL or voice thread, it has given people the opportunity to do things that weren't easily accessible.

Youth of Today

I think it is incredible how far technology has come. What's even more incredible is the fact that kids generally have a better understanding and grasping of this fast paced lifestyle. They tend to have these instructions instilled in their genes. As soon as they can walk, they're using computers. In the story, Cameron illustrated his comprehension and knowledge using his imagination to create different scenes. I think one of the things I was most impressed with. was his willingness to go out beyond the norm and help the teachers put together a presentation for the class. He demonstrated a high level of maturity. It makes me think of my little one. She is five and already she can go to different sites and play games. She can navigate through the internet and draw on her paint page or go to word document and type names.
My name is William Harris. I served eight years in the United States Army. Five active duty, and three reserve. I did twelve months in Korea and was actually suppose to fly home September 13 but the unfortunate happened on the 11th. I also did thirteen months in Iraq where I conducted over 250 convoys as a gunner. I was there! For the last four years, I have have been busy with school and of course my family. I've been married for fourteen years. I have a fourteen year old son and a five year old daughter. In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, and watching football. As far as why I want to teach, well I come from a long line. My great granddaddy taught. Both of my grandparents were involved with the schools. My grandfather was a principal and my grandmother was a counselor, and taught. My mother teaches. I think that kids should have the opportunity to learn while having fun. I always enjoyed the whole ah-ha effect and figured I can serve as that tool for students and deliver the effect to them. As of right now, I plan on teaching secondary English and coaching.
